Below we have collected those questions that are asked frequently in connection to our service.

WHAT IS A HOTSPOT ?

HOTSPOT is place where wireless inthernet is offered. The visitors can use their laptops, PDAs or their mobile phones to access the internet. 150 million laptops, 14 million PDAs and other Wi-Fi equipments are sold annually. The majority of these equipments support Wi-Fi. HotSpots are operated mainly in hotels, restaurants, airports, trainstations, campgrounds, cafeterias, libraries and other public places.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO OPERATE A HOTSPOTSYSTEM.COM HOTPSOT?

Broadband internet connection, and a LinkSys WRT54GL Wi-Fi router* with a special firmware that is offered by us. The minute the router receives internet, the service starts to work (you need to provide the broadband internet connection). Since there is a special software running on the router, there is no need to operate a computer. If you operate your HotSpot as a paid service, users can pay their access fee by a credit card, thus the operation of the system is completely automatic, there is no need of staff.

You can also order one from us, preset with your customized firmware, from our shop, but you have to count with an additional $50 shipping and handling fee.

CAN I USE MY EXISTING ROUTER?
Yes, if you own a router that is compatible with DD-WRT (standard, VOIP or VPN versions only). This is the device that the special software runs on and what is needed to operate our system. If at least one router is operating on the given location, then it is enough to operate the HotSpot and all other Wi-Fi devices. (access points, repeaters)

HOW MUCH DOES THE SERVICE COST?

Apart from the broadband internet connection at least one Wi-Fi router is needed (we do not provide the internet service so you have to take care of it for yourself). You can find the list of compatible models here. If you'd like to offer Wi-Fi internet connection for a fee, then we provide the software running on the router and our other services like router monitoring, customer service, etc. for free, there is no monthly fee to be paid and there is no setup fee!

WHAT IS THE DIFFRERENCE BETWEEN THE SERVICE OF HOTSPOTSYSTEM.COM AND OTHER COMPANIES PROVIDING SIMMILAR SERVICE?

Unlike other providers we are transferring the major part of the income to you and we don't ask for a setup or monthly fee in case of you'd like to start your own paid HotSpot service. We only receive commission. Other companies pay only commission to you , and they keep the bigger part of the income or ask for a setup and monthly fee. Apart from this, other providers have no solution if you want to provide free internet or if you want to associate the service to a special product, menu. HotSpotSystem.com also provides an operator area and real time sales analysis, customized access packages where you can set the prices, currency, bandwidth and traffic limits.

DO I HAVE TO COMMIT TO ANYTHING WHEN USING HOTSPOTSYSTEM.COM?
No, there are no conditions of minimal transactions to be made in order to connect to our system and no need to commit to our system in writing. Since both parties are interested to make the system used by more and more users, thus everything has to be done to provide adequete information.
WHERE CAN THE SYSTEM BE USED?

Our service works in every point of the world, where there is internet connection. Our pages are multilingual.

WHAT IS THE RANGE OF THE WI-FI ROUTER?

The optimal range is 50 meters, depending on the characteristics of the location, but you can easily extend this range by installing external antennas.

HOW CAN YOU SOLVE TO COVER A LARGER PLACE OR A FEW STOREY BUILDING?
The signal can be strengthened with a larger antenna. There are internal and external antennas specially developed for this purpose. These can be connected to the routers sold by us. Should this be not enough (because of extra thick walls) the signal can be forwarded, by so called repeaters. If the repeater can receive the internet via a wire from a central router, then a simplies “Access Point” is enough. This would cost $30-$50 (check models and prices here). There is wireless signal forwarding, which costs the same as the LinkSys WRT54GL Wi-Fi router. You can also buy these things from our shop once you have registered as an operator.

For the most up to date compatibility list, check here. Only Standard, VOIP and VPN versions of DD-WRT are compatible, so don't buy a router which is compatible with Micro or Mini versions of DD-WRT.

HOW DOES THE ACCOUNTING HAPPEN?
The accounting with the HotSpot locations happen monthly. If the income from credit card payments exceed net $50 monthly, then our company will pay out the amount after deducting our commission to the operator of the HotSpot location. If the net income doesn’t reach $50 then this amount will be paid in the next month. Payouts are done to the operator's PayPal account or wire transfer.
HOW DOES THE ACCOUNTING HAPPEN IN CASE OF PREPAID CARDS?
You have to buy the PrePaid scratch cards from us first if you'd like to sell them at your location. The price of the PrePaid cards is 30% of the end user price. This way you'll also get the 70% of the income when you sell the cards for 100% price.
WHEN DO I GET PAID?
Payouts are done after the 45th day of the end of the actual month, not later than the 60th day. The reason of the delay is that we have to deal with end user refunds or charge backs that may happen. Payouts are done to the operator's PayPal account or wire transfer.
WHEN CAN I START MY HOTSPOT SERVICE AFTER REGISTRATION?
After successful registration we will make your personal configuration file. This usually takes 24-48 hours. We'll send you an email with installation instruction when your file is ready.
I FILLED OUT THE REGISTRATION BUT HAVEN'T GOT ANY EMAILS?
We're sending out the first email immediately after your registration. Please verify that your mailbox is not full and check your SPAM folder. If you don't get the email within a few hours then contact our Customer Service.
AFTER WE HAVE CONNECTED TO THE SYSTEM, DO WE HAVE TO PAY FOR THE USE OF THE INTERNET?
No, since if the wire ports of the router are not running through our system (which can easily be set), then the staff can use the internet for free as if they were accessing it directly.
CAN YOU PROVIDE AN ADMIN ACCOUNT SO I CAN USE MY HOTSPOT WIRELESSLY FOR FREE?
Yes, we can create an account for you so you can connect to your HotSpot wirelessly without paying.
CAN I TURN A WIRE INTERNET CONNECTION TO A PAID ONE USING THE SYSTEM?
Yes, since the software works not only with the Wi-Fi. If the guests connects to the internet not via the antenna of the router but via the LAN port of the router, the system works as he was connecting wireless. Thus we can solve to connect all the rooms of a hotel to our system or to connect computers working on a public location.
HOW WILL I RECEIVE THE ACCESS CODES?
We'll send you the access codes via email. We can send the codes in excel, csv formats and we can also provide you a MS ACCESS file so you can print them on Avery Business Cards easily.
WHEN WILL THE ACCESS CODES EXPIRE?
You can choose to have 30 minutes cards or 1 hours, 90 minutes, 3 hour, 6 hours and 24 hours. Time starts from the moment of the cards' activation, no matter how long a user stays effectively connected with a card.
