My free hotspot is working great but on the management page the router does not show up in the device list. Any ideas what i have mis-configured.

This can be a firewall which is blocking the calls from the router to our web site. Be sure to turn off SPI firewalls which may block the calls on the network.

The only firewall would be on the coovaap router the cable modem is wide open. So does the router firewall need a setting change?

You can have an ISP firewall in the cable modem too. It shouldn't be a problem to have it turned on on coovaap based hotspot router, but you may give it a try to turn it off.
