Hello,
I have a buffalo whr g300N V2 with the latest ddwrt firmware at the time of writing. (

DD-WRT v24-sp2 (06/08/12) std - build 19342).

The issue I am having is the general install of the hotspot system software onto the router. I have tried the command method and the built in setup. Using both methods the router is seen by the operator location webpage on the hotspot system website. However, when I connect to the router either by wire or wireless I am not redirected to the hotspot user agreement splash screen and am allowed to connect to the internet straight away. I am quite new to setting up this sort of thing but have experience with computers, but cant get this to work.

I understand that the best firmware is 14311, but unfortunately it is not compiled for my router. Can somebody help? I can give extra infomation if required.

Thanks

Leon

Hi,

What is the ip address the router leases you when you connect?

By defaults it shoudl be 192.168.182.X and if it is not, then you need to make sure chilli is running:  http://hotspotsystem...=7681-YOAN-6356

Chilli needs a proper internet connection to run.  If it is not running then you should try to start it manually. If you get an error then the build is faulty and you should try a different one. You can find more builds here: http://dd-wrt.com/si...yer-V24-preSP2/

I did have ddwrt build 14311 running but realised I was using the wrong firmware for the router and therefore replaced it with the newer build described above. In 14311 I found that the router rebooted straight away in the command line installation method and the router setup correctly. This doesn't happen in the newest build. Because the firmware wasn't right I decided to change it to the newest and correct build for my router, as I thought I might brick the router.
Which other builds can you suggest that definitely function as expected with the hotspot system. I do remember that my ip address was 192.168.182.x but I am not at the premises until tonight so I will check this then.

13064 works also, but it doesn't have the built in setup feature, so you would have to run the command.  Version 17201, 16454 and 16214 are also good, but results may vary by chipset.

I have tried the command line method using all the builds that you suggested and the router reboots as expected, however after the boot I get "limited or no connectivity" appear in the notification area in Windows and I cant reconnect access ddwrt or the internet through the router. I am going to try to get it to work using the built in setup provided in ddwrt and will report back.

Thanks for the help so far.

After running the command you should be able to connect by setting the PC a static ip address on the same network.

After setting a static ip on the computer I can access the settings of the router.
But there is no internet access.
When I try to connect to the wifi hotspot I get a long delay in connection then "limited or no connectivity".
Where do I go from here?

As well as not getting any internet when the ip address of the PC is static, when I set the ip address to obtain as automatic to access the internet through the hotspot I cannot access the hotspot and get "limited or no connectivity" through a wired and wireless connection to the router. The router definitely has internet access because a WAN IP is seen in the router settings as well as what seems to be a successful installation in the location settings on the hotspot system website, so it is obviously communicating with your system.

Setting a static address is only necessary if you want to connect to the router's admin. You shoudl set the adapter to DHCP if you want to connect to the hotspot/internet.  Check to see if chilli is runing. You shoudl get an ip address of 192.168.182.X when connecting wireless.

I didnt get the right ip address after setting the dhcp of the router to auto.
However, after disabling Chillispot on the router and then enabling it again seems to reset the config and allows access to the hotspot. Success! (I think it is this procedure) Will double check this by trying to set up another router at the location. Also, The build I have this running on is 16214. I will try this procedure with 17201 to see if it works.
I have another question regarding the ip addresses of the hotspot when there are multiple routers in one location. It might sound like a stupid question. The default is 192.168.182.xx. Do I need to change this to for example 192.168.183.xx for the second router at this location to stop possible conflicts? Thanks

Apparently there should be no conflict as a combination of a computers mac and ip address is used.
Disabling then enabling chillispot resets the ip address pool allowing expected connection to the hotspot.
I assume because this works with 16214 than this is also the case with 17201.
Thanks for all your help getting my hotspot up and running Marko!
