Hi,
I've recently installed my first Nanostation using the Hotspotsystem modified firmware and have a question with regard to a setting I notice in the new Hotspot tab.

As we know the Nanostation has 3 interfaces - 1 wireless and 2 LAN ports.

In the configuration as set up by the modified firmware the Primary LAN port becomes the 'WAN' and the Wireless interface becomes 'WLAN' on which the hotspot capture is available and chilli runs its own DHCP server.
In the network tab, LAN network settings would appear to apply to the secondary lan port and comes out of the box with a DHCP server running on the IP range 192.168.20.0/24.

However I'd like to utilise the remaining Secondary LAN port to connect a 'dumb' accesspoint with which to expand the hotspot coverage. To this end I noticed in the hotspot tab there is an option to 'Bridge Wireless + LAN'. Is this setting as simple as it sounds, if I enable it (having disabled the DHCP server running on the 20.0/24 range) will I simply be able to connect another accesspoint to this port?

Normally I'd just try it but I only noticed the setting after installing the Nanostation which is now up a 80ft mast so I'd prefer not to mess it up and have to reset it! ;)

Hello,

Unfortunately the 'Bridge Wireless + LAN' setting does not seem to work on certain Ubiquiti routers.   Enabling this option should give you the desired results of having hotspot redirection via the LAN port, however in practice this does not happen.  I suggest that you either use a different router, or bridge teh cable network to your wireless via another device.
