Using a central main point atop a large building, we setup the main router, Mikrotik RB433AH, to run a hotspot.
We installed a 90 degree sector antenna covering around a 3km radius from that point. At various properties we installed repeaters, also Mikrotik, which in turn had various Access Points (Ubiquiti PICO2 and other) attached by cable to service the apartments inside and on various floors.
We installed on roofs of many buildings, omni antennas providing coverage to neighboring properties.
We are growing this solution weekly, and it is all working well, with one 4Mb internet connection at the central point.
We find users are happy with the speeds, we limit a single user to 2Mb download and 1Mb upload, and typically system has around 4 simultaneous users. The 4Mb circuit seems enough for this amount, though we may have to increase capacity once season starts and more users start to connect simultaneously.
We use the master accounts for some special users, who receive free bandwidth in exchange for reselling vouchers.
We are generating income around 50/50 from voucher sales at two outlets and from credit card sales.
We have had over 90 transactions per month over the last 3 months, very successful deployment indeed!
