How to Setup Your Own Hotspot with OPENWRT (Attitude Adjustment) and CoovaChilli
Important note: The procedure described here is in beta phase and continuously developed. Currently it is working only with routers with multiple LAN ports. Check back later for updates.
1. Download the appropriate firmware for your router from Openwrt.org http://downloads.openwrt.org/attitude_adjustment/
2. Istall the firmware. The procedure is device specific, if you need help, you can start from this page: http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/generic.flashing or choose your hardware directly here: http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/start
3. Log in to the Control Center with your Operator Username and password (this is the username and password that you've choosen at the registration). Go to Manage > Locations and choose the location where you'd like to install your hotspot. Then find the "ROUTER SETUP COMMAND" section at the bottom , SELECT OpenWRT, click on the 'Highlight Text' button to select all the text in the text area, then copy it to the clipboard. (Press CTRL+C or APPLE+C or select the copy command from the browser's EDIT menu)
4. After the upgrade make a connection to the router via Telnet or SSH. The process is described here: http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/firstlogin
5. After you log in successfully and change your default password, copy your special command (that you've copied from the HotspotSystem.com's Control Center) from the clipboard (press the right mouse button or press SHIFT+INSERT).
The router will now download your special settings and the packages needed for hotspot and will configure itself.
